Food Review : Chye Seng Huat Hardware

Last weekend saw the bf and I patronising one of the famous brunch places that is currently trending amongst the youngsters now.

We finally got to try out Chye Seng Huat Hardware 🙂

If you are a small eater like me, this place is suitable for any meal of the day. But they serve mainly bfast/brunch dishes such sa pancakes, sandwiches, eggs etc.

Bf ordered their hot latte :

And I ordered their cold brew because I prefer iced coffee.

But I totally regretted ordering this because it tastes so odd!!!

Although I must first applaud CSHH for their creativity to serve coffee in a bottle, on a second thought, it resembles so much like a bottle of cough mixture or something. So much so that this similarity was ingrained into me throughout the whole session.

I guess that must have also played a influential role in its distaste.

Of course, you’ve to create your own little usual ‘concoction’ by adding milk and/or sugar which depends on your own preference, in a separate cup. Because it tasted so bad, I had to pour everything in and yet, still tasted weird but a little better.

Bf ordered this Omelette set and I finished up the raw veg for him, LOL.

I thought the omelette which contains mushrooms and ham tasted not bad. It costs $8.50 which is quite reasonable I guess.

I ordered scrambled eggs and bacon with the same sides. We don’t have a choice over the sides though. Mine costs $11.

All in all, I thought it was an interesting place to explore and visit, because of its vintage ambience but other than that, the food tasted so-so, nothing special and nothing exceptionally delicious or to die for.

I totally loathe the cold brew coffee and just by the thought of it makes me sick. 🙁

My take is to visit just once, and after that, enough. There isn’t a need to head back again.

Moreover, my colleague who patronized this eatery before had the same conclusion as me, that their staff aren’t that friendly. And unless you don’t mind the blazing sun, it’s quite difficult to get seats indoors which the staff don’t even bother attending to. Oh yes, their tables and the whole area are rather cramped too, so those who are claustrophobic, do leave your fears back home if possible.
